Type ratings follow your rank, not a separate hour count per type. There is exactly one step that unlocks anything:
- Trainee (from 0 h) and Second Officer (from 10 h / 5 flights) — the entire narrowbody fleet: A220-300, A319, A320, A320neo, A321, A321neo.
- First Officer (from 50 h) — plus long-haul: A330-900 and A350-900. Both together, not one after the other.
- Senior First Officer (150 h), Captain (300 h), Senior Captain (600 h) — no further types, but more responsibility and approvals.
So you do not start on a single type: every narrowbody is open to you from your first flight. The only real gate is the 50 hours to the widebody.
